NIR

NIR lasers (near-infrared lasers) emit laser light within the red spectral region, between 750 nm and 1400 nm. NIR lasers are used in a variety of applications, including laser surgery, laser therapy, and diagnostic imaging. They are also commonly used in welding, cutting, and marking applications, due to their ability to deliver high power outputs and precise control. NIR lasers are also utilized extensively in research and development, particularly in the fields of spectroscopy and microscopy.

NIR lasers pose a particular eye safety hazard because of the wavelengths being easily transmitted through the eye to be focused on the retina.

Browse our LaserShield® filters using the Wavelength Selection Tool in the left side navigation. If you need to calculate the OD for your required level of protection, please use the OD Calculator tool or call us at 800-521-9746 to assist you with choosing the right filter for your application.
