A disk laser is a type of diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) laser that uses a thin disk of crystal as its gain medium anrs that typically produces laser light at a wavelength of 1030 nm. The most common disk laser application is remote laser welding, particularly for the automotive industry, which also uses disk laser for cutting of hot-formed components. Disk lasers can also be used for creating near-net-shape 3-D parts.
Browse our LaserShield® filters using the Wavelength Selection Tool in the left side navigation to select the optimal filter for protecing your vision from the damage a disk laser could cause. If you need to calculate the OD for your required level of protection, please use our OD Calculator tool or call us at 800-521-9746 to assist you with choosing the right filter for your application.
