Infrared

Infrared lasers emit wavelengths of light longer than visible light but shorter than microwave radiation, typically from 700 nm to 1 mm. Infrared lasers are used in multiple applications, from telecommunications and medical procedures to military and industrial settings. The invisibility of IR lasers to the human eye can create a deceptive sense of security, but their potential harm, particularly to the retina, is very real. Accidental exposure or misaligned equipment can result in serious, often irreparable, eye damage. Thus proper eye protection is critical when when working with IR laser equipment.

Browse our LaserShield® filters using the Wavelength Selection Tool in the left side navigation. If you need to calculate the OD for your required level of protection, please use the OD Calculator tool or call us at 800-521-9746 to assist you with choosing the right filter for your application.
